I love muslin fabric.

It’s uber-soft, lightweight but still warm & cozy, has ample stretch for easy and snug swaddling, and gets softer with every wash.

I’m also a big fan of Summer Infant products. In particular, I love their SwaddleMe easy-style swaddle.

Based on my love of muslin and Summer Infant products, I was prepared to LOVE the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets.

Unfortunately, LOVE is a bit too strong of a word for how I feel about these blankets. Like is perhaps more appropriate.

It’s not that there is anything wrong with the SwaddleMe blankets…they’re pretty soft and stretchy, have a decent size and are priced well.

And if I had never tried Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles (check out the review here), I might love the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets a bit more.

But I simply cannot live without my Aden + Anais muslin swaddles – and these kind of pale in comparison.

When I want to use a traditional wrap-style muslin swaddle, I prefer Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles over the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets for a few reasons:

Swaddleme Muslin Blankets are not as soft

Cotton muslin fabric is undeniably soft. And the best part about it is that it actually gets softer the more you use it and wash it.

So, while I really like the fact that these SwaddleMe blankets are made from Muslin, they’re not nearly as soft or silky as any of the Aden + Anais muslin products.

Don’t get me wrong – the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are soft. And for many of you they will likely be soft enough.

But it’s kind of like once you’ve tried the absolute best, which are as soft as a cloud, why settle for a lesser version?

SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are not the biggest on the block

Now size definitely doesn’t matter for everything.

but when it comes to baby swaddles, bigger is definitely better.

The SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are by no means small at 40 x 40 inches.

But they’re smaller than the Aden + Anais muslin swaddle blankets, which are 47 x 47.

And while 7 inches might not seem like much, when your baby is growing rapidly and you don’t want to have to replace their favorite swaddle – it’s pretty significant.

And besides, bigger swaddles are easier to wrap.

The SwaddleMe Muslin Blanket comes in a limited range of patterns

For all you fashion forward swaddle users out there, you’ll likely be disappointed with the print options that the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are available in.

First of all, the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are only available in 2 or 3-packs – no single packs available. But this isn’t a bad thing. You WILL definitely need more than a single swaddle for your baby.

The 2-pack has 2 different print package options for a total of 4 prints.

The 3-pack offers a bit more variety with 5 print package options for a total of 15 prints.

As you can imagine, this does not leave a whole lot of dedicated boy or girl designs. Fortunately, there are also some good looking unisex designs, however, these are quite plain.

Whichever package you go with, there isn’t a lot of choices when it comes to prints and designs.

That being said, the prints that are available are quite nice, actually.

The colors are pleasant and varied and there are some neutral prints as well as some themed-prints, like the sports and stars swaddles that I received.

As you can see, the baby looks great when wrapped up in them.

I just wish there was more to choose from.

Something that isn’t an issue with the Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles as they offer 50+ gorgeous prints and designs.

If a stylish swaddle is not a priority for you, then the lack of print options that the SwaddleMe definitely isn’t an issue.

And I’ll say that I’m not overly concerned with fashionable swaddle, but it’s nice to have more options.

But at least SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets are affordable

There’s really only one reason that might make you more inclined to purchase the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets over the Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles (or other brands of muslin swaddles)…and that’s the price.

Outside of the price, the Aden + Anais muslin swaddles exceed the SwaddleMe in softness, stretchiness, size, and print options.

But if you’re on a budget or just like a good deal, the SwaddleMe Muslin Blankets offer an affordable swaddling solution.

The SwaddleMe Muslin Swaddle Blankets are quite affordable. And for many of us with kids, this is a big selling point.

Bottom Line: If you’re not terribly concerned with a variety of prints and are just looking to swaddle your baby in a soft, muslin blanket while saving a few bucks – then the SwaddleMe Muslin Blanket by Summer Infant offers a lot to like.
