27 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Eggplant

Weight gained: 2 lbs

Total Weight gained: 29 lbs

27 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: My hair has stopped falling out. Not a single strand has fallen out this week. This happened with my first pregnancy too. I wondered the first time around what this would mean. I guess it is actually very common in pregnancy. After giving birth to L, none of my hair fell out at all. It wasn’t until about 3-4 months after when A LOT fell out. It was like my hair had to catch up and shed multiple months in a matter of weeks. Eventually it leveled out and my hair returned to normal but before it did, I had lots of new hair grown in which made for some interesting hairdos.

Cravings: No cravings.

Aversions: No aversions.

Sleep: I can’t nap. Even when I am super tired, I just can’t go to sleep. I don’t think napping will be very possible for the rest of pregnancy. The reasons being that I have hit that stage in pregnancy where my mind races and I can’t sleep because I feel this need to get everything done, also known as nesting. I also think that only being able to sleep on my right side makes it hard to fall asleep. If I switch to my left side, I instantly have to pee.

Excited for: I tackled my toddler’s closet this week and switched out her wardrobe for spring and summer. It is crazy to compare the size she wears now to what she wore on the first day home from the hospital. I am super excited to get all of the cute newborn clothing out again. I’m hoping to tackle that this upcoming month!

Missing: Today, it rained. For some reason, I really wanted to hot tub. Cole and I use to belong to a gym and we would go on rainy days and always hot tub. Being pregnant, hot tubbing isn’t exactly on the list of activities I can do. I also don’t have a swimsuit that fits me. I am thinking of getting one as I will be pregnant for most of the summer and plan to spend a lot of time at the town beach.

Movement: Baby still kicking and moving. Cole even commented on how baby’s kicks are getting stronger. Baby is still horizontal, which I can tell based on where I get kicked. I am really hoping she turns soon because her being in the right position for birth will put me at ease even if it is still early.

Dr. Update: No.

Exercise: No

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: L’s closet isn’t the only one in our house that needs to changed over for the new season. I am starting to switch from winter to summer clothing but as I have two more weeks of the semester, I need to keep some good options for teaching. Can’t really show up in shorts to teach. My maternity clothing will start to be mostly tank tops which are great because they will also work post-partum as well.

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: No. They are off for good until post-partum.

Belly Button In or Out: OUT!

How I’m Preparing: It is pretty crazy to think baby is full term in 10 weeks. At 37 weeks, you can go into labor and that is considered full term. You also have no idea if baby could come earlier than that. Over the next week, I plan to pack a hospital bag to have just in case. I am so feeling the need to clean everything! The nesting bug has bit me and that is probably a good thing. Being prepared for baby can dramatically change how those first few months go. I want to be able to enjoy it as much as possible so preparing earlier is ALWAYS better.

Best Moment of the Week: I finished my last official lecture of physical chemistry this week. The rest is review and then the final. It became the best moment of the week when my students all clapped at the end of my final lecture. It was nice to get such positive feedback and to know that they thought it was a good semester. I love how the class is ending on a great note, which is such an awesome way to end the semester and begin the summer. Even just the thought of the beginning of summer fills me with so much excitement as it means we are that much closer to meeting baby and all of the adventures that having another little one will bring.
