Baby is a: Large Eggplant
Weight gained: 3 lbs
Total Weight gained: 32 lbs
28 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: Leg cramping! It is the worst. Sometimes when I try to stretch my foot or leg, my muscle gets “stuck” and it is so painful. I guess the correct term here is a charley horse. I really hope they stop soon.
Cravings: No cravings. Just hungry.
Aversions: No aversions.
Sleep: Going well this week. With the semester finally coming to an end, I am able to get to bed earlier as I don’t have any class prep to do. I have also started making it a priority to go to sleep the same time each night. That goal is working much better than trying to go to bed earlier because I am a night owl.
Excited for: THE THIRD TRIMESTER! Wow, I can’t believe baby could be here in less than 12 weeks. It seems unreal. I remember the third trimester, while a little uncomfortable, was so exciting because I could not wait to meet L. It is also making me get serious about being ready for baby.
Missing: Having a baby to hold. I know, I’m pregnant and will very soon get that wish. But this weekend, I got to hold my friend’s baby who is around 4 months and I forgot how tiny and cuddly they are! I am pretty excited to get my wrap out again.
When L was little, we use to take long walks with her asleep in the wrap. Seriously my favorite memories of her as a baby. I remember the last time she slept on me in her wrap. I can’t believe she is now a walking and talking toddler now.
Movement: Still moving and grooving all the time!
Dr. Update: This coming Thursday I have an appointment, a blood draw for a CBC (complete blood count) and the glucose test. Because I have a toddler, the midwife is allowing me to take the drink before my appointment and then get my blood drawn after for both CBC and glucose test so I can be in and out. Really hope the tests go well.
Exercise: No
Stretch Marks: No
Swelling: No
Maternity Clothing: Finally switched over to my summer wardrobe. My favorite everyday outfit is my overalls from Motherhood Maternity. They are so comfy! Still need to invest in a maternity swimsuit. It was so nice to finally put away the winter clothing.
Labor Signs: No
Wedding Rings On: No. They are off for good until post-partum.
Belly Button In or Out: OUT!
How I’m Preparing: As this does mark the end of the second trimester, I know all too well that there is no way to predict when baby decides it’s time. So, I have started to compile the must complete list. This will ensure I have it done even if baby shows up early. I am considering the following while building my master to-do list:
Do I need to declutter anything?
Are there any house projects that need to be done?
Have I made room for storage for new baby items?
Is the nursery set-up?
What baby items am I still missing?
Have I set aside a week/weekend to do freezer meals?
Have I figured out my birth plan?
Have I figured out how we will announce baby? To whom?
Have I booked the photographer?
Do I have my nursing and diaper stations on all floors figured out?
Have I figured out visitors?
If you are working on your final to do list, I wrote how I succeeded and failed at this the first time through here.
You can also get printables and worksheets to help you with this in our Nesting Planner.
Best Moment of the Week: We liked a name for more than a few days! Who knows if this will be the name, but we are excited that we have one in mind. Since the beginning of this pregnancy, we have been struggling with a name. With the third trimester here, it is very relieving that we both really like this name. However, just like with L, we plan on not sharing until baby is actually here. It is very exciting to announce baby’s arrival with their name. It just gave it so much more meaning.
