Baby is a: Sweet Potato
Weight gained: 2 lb
Total Weight gained: 7 lbs
18 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: I have to pee all the time and eat all the time. And I have started to nest. Essentially everything in our house had to be cleaned on Tuesday and in addition to that, I have this crazy desire to add organization to everything.
Cravings: Water. I am thirsty all the time, which is great because hydration during pregnancy is important but also horrible because then I have to pee even more! I already feel like I have to pee all day long.
Aversions: Cooked vegetables are still an absolute no. We made brussel sprouts and I usually like them but even the smell of them cooking was revolting. I had one bite and was like “nope absolutely not.”
Sleep: Surprisingly, sleep has been very good lately. I’m afraid to say this however out of fear of jinxing it.
Excited for: It is going to be March next week. Not only does that mean the beginning of Spring, but also Spring Break, my birthday, and our 20 WEEK ULTRASOUND! I can’t wait to see how big baby is. I remember being amazed at this ultrasound with L because at the first ultrasound baby is so tiny and you can’t make out much of anything, but the 20 week ultrasound shows so much and the baby is actually starting to look like a person.
Missing: Clothing shopping. I was at Target and all the Spring selection is out, but of course there's no point in buying anything that I can't wear...
Movement: I can definitely feel baby but only a few times and it is always when I am very still in bed. I remember L kicking in utero but can’t remember what it was like this early on. I only really remember when I was in my third trimester and the kicks would be strong. It now just feels like movement, not punches, kicks or dances.
Dr. Update: No appointments this week.
Exercise: No
Stretch Marks: No
Swelling: No
Maternity Clothing: I hate getting dressed every morning because I have to go through a few shirts to find one that doesn’t look horrible. Clothing is so awkward right now so no matter what I chose, I always feel disheveled. I am also wearing essentially the same pants every day lol, my (all-time favorite) maternity jeans from Stitch Fix . This week I am also to weaving in more of my maternity shirts that I got during my Week 8 Stitch Fix haul (as you can see in the picture above).
Labor Signs: No
Wedding Rings On: Yes
Belly Button In or Out: In
How I’m Preparing: As I am so feeling the need to nest, I have started thinking a lot about items I need for baby. The first time around, I spent an extensive amount of time researching what would be best for us and what wouldn’t break the bank. I wanted to pick items that I wouldn’t have to rebuy and that we would use as long and as much as possible. So many baby items are only used for a month or so.
In my first registry, I prioritized a crib, a really good nursing chair, car seat, and swing. I wanted to make sure the big purchases would last through more than just one kid. I compiled my reasoning for my choices from the type of wrap to what type of stroller in my complete registry guide here with its own checklist. This time around it is going to be more filling in the gaps.
Best Moment of the Week: This had to be convincing Cole to do more DIY projects around the house. 😊 I really wanted a way to contain all of the stuff animals in L’s playroom so Cole made a box for them with easy access using bungee cords.
We also used some Ikea spice racks to add shelving in the bathroom and free up the counter so it isn’t full of clutter all the time. I always love how just a few little changes can really increase organization and actually save you time because you now have less cleaning.
