If you are tired of unhelpful Bugaboo stroller reviews, then you came to the right place. In this review, we take a close look at the brand’s top product, both the good and the bad. So, if you want to know if the luxury brand is worth the high budget, then come find out!

There are a lot of Bugaboo stroller reviews out there on the internet. And while the overwhelming majority of them are positive, it is easy to see why someone would give it a useful review after dropping over one thousand dollars on it. But can you trust these reviewers? Or are they just jumping on the hype train?

If you cannot find any completely objective Bugaboo stroller reviews, then you came to the right place. In this review, we try hard to maintain a completely neutral viewpoint so that we can review the product without any outside judgments or expectations.

What is a Bugaboo Stroller?

Bugaboo Strollers come with the well-known reputation of being a high-end stroller brand. However, in recent years the brand diversified its strollers and released several different models — each at varying budgets. However, they all still range on the expensive side – do not expect a value model.

The current Bugaboo stroller models included on the market right now include the Bugaboo Fox, Bugaboo Cameleon 3 plus, Bugaboo Bee 5, Bugaboo Donkey 2 Mono, Bugaboo Donkey 2 Duo, Bugaboo Donkey 2 Twin, and the Bugaboo Runner.

However, for simplicity's sake in this review, we will only cover the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 plus. We do this both because this model is the most popular selling stroller by the company, but also so we can give the stroller the due attention it deserves.

The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus is the third generation model of the classic original stroller design offered by the company. It is light an incredibly portable. When you take the bassinet out the stroller can close in on itself and shrink into roughly the size of a folding chair — which makes it ideal for road trip and vacations.

In addition to the bassinet and frame of the device, the stroller also includes an under the basket storage bag. In it, you can carry diapers, snacks or anything you might need on your walk or outing. The third generation model also contains an improved braking system.

If you find yourself caught in a rainstorm, then do not panic! The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus also comes with a see-through rain cover.

Another cool feature that comes with the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus is the adjustable handlebar. If you are too short or too tall for your current stroller, then you do not need to worry about ordering the right size so you can push comfortably. You can adjust the length, so it fits your specific height needs.

Another cool feature the company includes in this updated version of the Cameleon is large back wheels. While this might not seem like a significant development, it actually increases the amount of terrain the Bugaboo can handle. Whereas before it could only navigate the smooth road, now it can take on off-road conditions.

Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus Specifications

The lightweight Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus weighs approximately thirty-five pounds and comes with a size dimension of thirty-six inches by twenty-one inches by eleven inches. However, keep in mind that the company only decide the product for babies and toddlers.

The company makes the fabric on the stroller out of soft polyester. You can remove the material on the device, and it is machine washable in case a mess occurs during use. The seat also features a mattress inlay that Bugaboo aerates, so it remains fresh on children during a hot summer day.

The underseat bag on the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus holds roughly six point three gallons worth of supplies. The product comes with a three-year warranty, so if anything happens to it in that period, then the company will replace it, or send a replacement part.

If your child weighs over thirty-seven pounds, then they will not be able to ride in the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus safely. As such, you should pay close attention to your child's weight as they get older and stop using it when they reach a weight. Also, there is no feature on this model that allows you to carry two children at once. If you want this feature on a Bugaboo product, then we recommend you go with the Bugaboo Donkey 2.

The style of the stroller is also a notable feature. Since the stroller series first came out the Bugaboo brand has applied to sophisticated urbanites and homey soccer moms alike. In addition to the style, you also get some excellent customization options — you can currently pick between six different colors. The stroller comes with the following color and design options you can choose from when shopping:

  • Soft pink
  • Grey mélange
  • Classic dark navy and aluminum chassis
  • Black
  • Fresh white
  • Birds

How Does the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus Compare With Other Brands?

In this section, we compare the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus with three other popular stroller models currently selling. Specifically, we compare it with Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System and the Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Stroller, Gotham.

We compare the Bugaboo stroller with two products in different budgets so you can see some of the areas where it excels and some of the areas where it loses out to the competition.

1) Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System, Sandstone

The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System lies somewhere between the two other strollers listed in this article. But, it does still less expensive than the Bugaboo, which gives you a good impression of how much weight that brand name carries.

2) Graco Fast Action Fold Jogger Stroller, Gotham

The Graco Fast Action Fold Jogger Stroller is our pick for a more value-oriented stroller device. While it does come with some problems, we believe the affordability will make up any defects for a lot of people.

Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus Pros and Cons

It is true that the Bugaboo features a lightweight frame and incredibly portable design. But, the overall weight of the product still weighs more than some of the cheaper models. However, this reason is that the more affordable models make their material out of light plastic.

So, while it does weigh less, it all breaks much more quickly. The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus can also take a pretty good beating, either during use or in transport.

We appreciate the fact that it comes with a three-year warranty. Since many of the others do not, this fact tells us the Bugaboo is the only company that fully trusts their product. Also if you do need to deal with a customer service representative, then do not worry.

People say the company is hugely courteous — processing warranty returns are quick, uncomplicated and straightforward and the company handles everything (including the shipping expenses). Considering the expense of the stroller, we think this customer service is due deserved.

The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus also works great in extreme weather. Whether you live in an incredibly hot climate like the American Southwest, or extremely cold, like the Northeast, you will still be able to take your baby on long walks as long as your prep the baby and the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus adequate.

However, along with all the good stuff that comes with the product, there are also some harmful factors too. The most glaringly obvious con is that it is expensive. One thousand dollars is a lot to pay for a stroller, and many sellers jack up the budget for these types of models even more.

Another issue that comes with the product is the way the device closes. Whenever you close the equipment, you need to watch both you and your child’s finger. It is not hard to close down on them and considering the weight of the product it can do some severe damage.

Other people complained about issues like their infant not being secured enough in the bassinet. While we do think this criticism is valid, we also find that you can fix it by putting a lot of blankets in the bassinet or various pillows.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Sturdy
  • Great customer service

CONS

  • Expensive
  • The potentially dangerous closing mechanism
  • Unsecured bassinet feature

Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus Review Conclusion

In our opinion, if you desperately need a Bugaboo — either because you heard they are life-changing, or you do not mind dropping some big bucks — then we think the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Plus is the lesser of the evils.

Though the sky-high budget does promise a lot, the stroller delivers it for the most part, either in performance or style. But, no one can deny that a significant portion of the expense goes toward the trusted brand name.

But people drop a lot of money every year on the lasted iPhone, so we see no problem with spending a little extra for a name you can trust.

We hope our Bugaboo stroller reviews helped you decide whether or not the product works for you. Good luck with your shopping process!
