39 Weeks Pregnant Baby Bump Update

Baby is a: Small Pumpkin

Weight gained: 1 lbs

Total Weight gained: 47 lbs

39 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: This baby is low! Great for labor but not so great for pelvic and sciatic pain. I’ve also had a good amount of cramping but no real contractions yet.

Cravings: No.

Aversions: No.

Sleep: Still not getting great sleep which results in being tired most days. Now when I wake in the night, I can’t go back to sleep. I also am hot at night which doesn’t help sleep at all.

Excited for: Not being pregnant soon and holding my baby for the first time. I am hoping it is a shorter labor this time around and I won’t be so exhausted when I finally get to meet my little one.

Missing: My normal belly. While I have such a short amount of time left to be pregnant, I know your body doesn’t return to normal right away. It takes awhile for the swelling to go down. I am not even sure I would have ever returned to my normal weight without freezer meals. It is so hard to eat healthy without them since newborns take up so much time.

Movement: I feel like she has slowed down or maybe is in a position where I can’t really feel her move. It made me nervous, so I brought it up at my appointment this week. If this happens to you, never wait to ask as it could be a sign of something wrong.

Dr. Update: I had another appointment this week. My blood pressure is very low, so they measured it twice. I also got a non-stress test to see how baby was doing since she seems to have slowed down a lot on movement. However, during the test she was bouncing everywhere. Go figure.

Exercise: No

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: My feet are so big!

Maternity Clothing: Overalls from Maternity Motherhood and any shirt that will fit.

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: No. They are off for good until post-partum.

Belly Button In or Out: OUT!

How I’m Preparing: I have prepared my postpartum recovery kit and refreshed myself on what it is like to nurse a newborn during that first week. I have made my list of questions to get answered during my hospital stay to make sure I get the most out of my hospital stay.

We have also finalized our plan for how to share labor and birth announcements and visitors at the hospital and at home.

We are now just waiting for labor to begin. I went into labor with L on her due date. I wonder what this little one will do.

Best Moment of the Week: Picking out outfits for a photoshoot at home with new baby. We are going to do a photoshoot with a photographer before the new baby is 2 weeks old. If you want those cute pictures of a baby bundled up, you must do it before they are 2 weeks old. After that they stretch and don’t curl up like a “newborn”.
