Baby is a: Cauliflower
Weight gained: 3 lbs
Total Weight gained: 25 lbs
25 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: Feeling pregnant. Is that a symptom? I think the fact that my jackets don’t zip was really a turning point to feeling very pregnant. People also feel very comfortable asking me when I’m due, etc.
Cravings: Watermelon. I could actually eat this for every meal. It’s a good thing watermelon is starting to come in season.
Aversions: No aversions.
Sleep: Going well, I am starting to wake up early without being woken. This happened with L too. I was getting up at 5 am every morning in the third trimester ready to go.
Excited for: The long weekend. Because we live in Massachusetts we get Patriot’s Day off. We are going to use this weekend to rearrange the house and start planning out the nursery. This time prioritizing nursery functionality! Last time I was really focused on the theme, which I don’t regret, but I should have spent some time on organization. I am also going to pick a theme this time around, so I can make Baby 2 a quilt also.
Missing: The amount of time I had the first time around to prepare and be organized. I was able to spend time on preparing my relationship, our house, and just our life in general. With a toddler and busier work schedules, it’s hard. It is the second time around so I don’t have to prepare a lot but I want to prioritize L meeting her new baby sister and how to start that relationship off right.
If you are also going through pregnancy, make sure you join our FREE bump smart course, where you will get a weekly email tailored to your due date on how to prepare that week. <3
Movement: Absolutely love all of the kicks and dances, but lately it’s all been at night when I am trying to sleep lol.
Dr. Update: I had my appointment. It was just L and I. We listened to baby’s heart beat and everything else was good. We mainly discussed the upcoming appointment. The appointment where I do the glucose test. Last time I was a mess after about 30 minutes of drinking it. I couldn’t stand and felt like puking. I also need to get a full CBC done because I haven’t yet during pregnancy. Lastly, I need to get an Rh shot because I have Rh negative blood. If baby is Rh positive, I also have to get another after baby is born.
Also, due to the fact that during my 20 week ultrasound baby was a pretzel and would not move, I get to have another ultrasound this Wednesday. I’m pretty excited about that because I love seeing baby on the ultrasound. It really makes it so real to me. When we were pregnant with L, during one of the late ultrasounds, she was sucking her thumb. It was so cute.
Exercise: No
Stretch Marks: No
Swelling: No
Maternity Clothing: I can’t believe I didn't know how wonderful a belly “wrap” is. This one is from Figure 8. This material lifts just enough that I don’t feel like I have to pee ALL the time. I bought a belly band originally and it doesn’t lift like this one does. When I say lift, I mean the actual material is supportive. There are no wires or braces, so it is comfortable. It also has really helped me get through teaching, where I lecture, standing on my feet, for three hours straight.
Labor Signs: No
Wedding Rings On: No. ☹ I finally decided it was time. I didn’t want them to get stuck. 🙁
Belly Button In or Out: Out
How I’m Preparing: Along with starting to plan out the nursery and a safe sleeping area in our room, we are trying to strategize where to have nursing stations and diaper stations. I want to have a diaper station set up both downstairs and upstairs. I also want to rearrange so that I have a good spot to store a nursing caddy so that I can easily reach it when I am nursing either up or down stairs.
Best Moment of the Week: L is almost 2 now! She now plays with and enjoys the company of other toddlers. I seriously can’t get enough of watching her play, explore and grow. The best moment of the week was seeing her play with N at the playground.
As I am starting to really crank up preparing for this new baby, I am realizing just how much L isn’t a baby anymore. It really does go by quick. In the beginning months, I really felt like it wasn’t going fast and it kind of felt like she would always be a baby. While I feel more prepared this time around for all the feelings and changes that come with having a baby, I wish I had prepared more for that new mom title. I just never knew how to. No one can explain what it’s like to have your heart walk outside of your body until you have a child.
