12 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Large Plum

Weight gained: 1 lb

Total Weight gained: 3 lbs

12 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: I am definitely starting to show, especially if I wear a shirt that “actuates” my bump. We traveled to DC for Cole’s conference. It was great, but it meant I didn’t get a lot of sleep and my morning sickness as a result got really bad. I spent two nights puking. The worst part is once you start puking, your stomach becomes really empty, which usually results in stronger morning sickness. It’s a vicious cycle. We also walked a lot and were very busy going to a lot of museums, which resulted in me feeling pretty crappy.

Cravings: Absolutely nothing. With morning sickness in full swing, I don’t want to eat anything, which is very problematic.

Aversions: Alfredo sauce because I puked it. I am not sure if I will ever be able to eat it again. Also, the smell or sight of meat is not good.

Sleep: Crappy. The hotel room was either freezing or 100 degrees so no one slept well for our DC trip.

Excited for: Florida. I am hoping the warm weather will improve how I feel. I am also excited for L to get some outdoor time and go to the beach next week.

Missing: With morning sickness being so awful, I am missing my “normal” level of morning sickness. I never thought I would say that.

Movement: No

Dr. Update: I decided to call the midwives with my morning sickness being so bad and see if there was something I could do to improve it. They told me to pick up Vitamin B6 and Unisom and to take 25 mg of B6 3 times a day and to take 25 mg of Unisom (with 25 mg of B6) before bed. This meant 25 mg of B6 when I woke up, 25 mg mid-day and 25 mg of B6 with 25 mg of Unisom before bed. Within a day, I felt like a new person. It worked wonders so I will stay on it until I am very well out of the first trimester and my morning sickness starts to dissipate. I did some reading on B6 and Unisom and both are very well researched and considered safe for pregnancy.

Exercise: We walked so much going to all the museums and the zoo. We ended up buying an umbrella stroller for L, which she loved. Such a great purchase and so easy to travel with, I wish I had bought one sooner.

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: Still only wearing my (all-time favorite) maternity jeans from Stitch Fix.

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: Yes

Belly Button In or Out: In

How I’m Preparing: Now that we are expecting our Counsyl genetic testing results back soon, I am starting to think of how to share gender with family. I have seen a lot of fun gender reveal parties but with both of our family plane flights away, that isn’t an option. The other option is to send everyone a fun “something” that allows them to find out the gender. I had a friend do this. Another option is to include L and video her eating a cupcake with the color inside or something of the sorts.

Best Moment of the Week: This definitely had to be going to the zoo with L. She absolutely loved all of the animals. It was her first time because there is no zoo where we live. Her favorite by far was the Panda. She watched him eat bamboo for like 30 minutes. She also absolutely loved the meerkats because they were at her eye level and took a great interest in her.
