7 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Blueberry

Weight gained: 0 lbs

How I’m Preparing this week: We had L at a hospital in a birth center. We discussed if we wanted to go with the same type of setting this time around. We also discussed if we wanted to go with the midwives again or with the physicians instead. Ultimately for us, the location will likely be decided due to proximity, but if you’re expecting and have some options on where you give birth, definitely check out Alli’s post on How to Choose Where to Give Birth.

I am also making more of an effort this time to document my pregnancy! Join me by signing up for our FREE Bump Smart Course, where you will get free weekly journal page, how to prepare tips and more. You can find more of the printables and organization sheets we offer outside our course here.

7 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: I am still tired, still have some waves of nausea, and am definitely in quite a mood this week. I am quite discontent with everything and I just can’t seem to shake anything off. I think my “morning sickness” is worse mid-day because with quite a busy schedule, I often seem to forget eating. I also am starting to become very sensitive to smells. The worst is how the dog food smells. YUCK!

Cravings: SALT. I want salty potato chips and orange juice. With L, I craved cheese so much. I have heard before that craving salt means you are having a boy based on old wive’s tales. This got me into looking into all of those again. I also want the strangest things for dinner that appeals to nobody else but I think it sounds like the most amazing food ever. For example, I wanted corn and refried beans for dinner one night this week.

Aversions: No specific aversions besides the fact that a food has to sound really good or else everything just sounds kind of icky.

Sleep: Sleep is getting better even though I am still tired. In the mornings when L gets up at 6 am, Cole gets up with her and I sleep for an extra hour or two depending on when Cole has to be into work that day. Getting those one or two extra hours in the morning has been helping tremendously with both sleep and morning sickness.

Excited for: Our first appointment, which is next week. While it will probably be pretty boring and I will have to get my blood drawn (I hate getting my blood drawn), having an appointment will make it all seem so much more real.

Missing: Feeling normal. Now that I am a few weeks into the stage that most women have pregnancy symptoms, I am missing just feeling like myself. In particular, I wish I could just open the fridge or pantry and not have such strong opinions on every food. I either feel immediate disgust or want something that of course we don’t have at the moment. Opening the fridge now hits me with a strong mixture of various smells, which makes me feel a little disgusted.

Movement: No

Dr. Update: I had my first appointment but it was really boring, no ultrasound or heartbeat or anything. It was really just a conversation with the midwife which didn't last very long because it is my second pregnancy and L was very protective of her mommy.

Exercise: I decided to get some fresh air, even with it almost being winter, and went for a fast-paced walk with L. Maybe about 2 miles total. It was very refreshing so hopefully I will convince myself to do this more often even in the winter.

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: No

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: Yes

Belly Button In or Out: In

Best Moment of the Week: For one evening this week, I actually wanted real food so we ordered in and had a really good dinner. It was nice to like what I was eating and then have absolutely no clean-up. L also learned a new word this week, turtle. It is the cutest thing ever.
