34 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Honeydew Melon

Weight gained: 2 lbs

Total Weight gained: 45 lbs

34 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms:  Heartburn. I guess this is very typical but wow does it suck.

Cravings: I am not really craving anything. I find this very strange because I also don’t really have an appetite. I wonder how long this will stay.

Aversions: Nothing

Sleep: Sleep is actually good this week.

Excited for: Father’s Day. Since L is almost two, we have a lot more options on making the day special. We can plan to go out and about and while she might not totally understand Father’s Day, she knows how to make dad a card. We are going to try to do a fun breakfast out, go on a hike and then spend the day at home as a family.

Missing: Being able to wear my old wardrobe. With summer in full swing, I really miss being able to take out all of my summer clothing. Summer attire is my favorite and I can’t wear any of it. Even after baby, nothing will fit for awhile. I will just have to wait until next summer.

Movement: Baby must be getting big because I am mainly getting kicked in the rib cage. Baby is still head down and hopefully stays that way.

Dr. Update: No

Exercise: No

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: I got a box of maternity clothing from a friend, which I am super excited about. It has some awesome tops to finish out the summer with. It also had a lot of nursing tanks and tops. I am really excited about these because during those first few months after baby is born, everything you wear must be nursing friendly. If you haven’t yet invested in nursing tank tops, I would do this before baby arrives, so you have something to wear.

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: No. They are off for good until post-partum.

Belly Button In or Out: OUT!

How I’m Preparing: We have planned out all photography. This means maternity, hospital and newborn sessions. As photography is usually expensive, we have prioritized. Since learning a lot about photography from the birth of our first child, we have decided that we will DIY some and also pay for some. After L’s birth, we invested in a nice camera because we wanted pictures of her throughout the years. The upfront cost of a nice camera was much better than having to hire a photographer every time we wanted nice photos of our kids. Another advantage is that we could get candid photos that were high resolution at every special event in our kids’ lives.

So this time around, we are using our own camera for bump and family shots. We are constructing a list of all the photos we want at the hospital and Cole will be in charge of getting those with the nice camera. These include weighing baby, the first time I hold baby, the first time he holds baby (I’ll take that one), breastfeeding baby, etc. When our oldest child comes to the hospital to meet her new sister, we will get some of the two of them. We will also get family shots by asking our family who will be watching L to take them. If you don’t have anyone you can ask to take family photos, then I really recommend getting a photographer for the hospital.

We booked a session for newborn photography because we want to make sure we have high quality photos of this time in our lives that we can hang or put in a baby book. However, this time we are focusing on making sure how many photos and their digital rights are included.

Best Moment of the Week:  L is taking a gymnastics class, tiny tots, and this last Tuesday was her last class. Being pregnant, Cole is usually the one who takes L to the class. This time I tagged along. It was so much fun watching L. She is obsessed with dad also doing every activity such as jumping on the trampoline or going in the ball pit. Cole is more than happy to oblige and it is nice that they have a bonding activity.
