19 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Tomato

Weight gained: 4 lb

Total Weight gained: 11 lbs

19 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: I’m still peeing all the time but this week my boobs have begun really sore and tender. This happened the first time around also, but this time I’m nursing a toddler so it’s extra problematic. Luckily L is slowly self-weaning so the problem may fix itself soon.

Cravings: Frozen yogurt with M&Ms! I know super healthy, but I did have it for dessert instead of dinner. I’m also all about carbs, which is probably why I am doing a very good job at gaining that 1-2 lbs a week (or more lol).

Aversions: Finally nothing! I really don’t have any aversions.

Sleep: I am trying to cut out naps, as they have become disruptive to my sleep at night. In order to do this, I am trying to get to bed earlier each night to reset my body clock. Your body does best when it goes to bed at the same time every night. So, I am going to try to change that time by little steps each day for a week.

Excited for: L to be a big sister, because all of a sudden she is so interested in babies and her baby dolls. During bedtime, not only does she go into a sleep sack, but also her baby doll needs one. If you don’t know the magic of sleep sacks already, check out my post on creating an awesome sleeping environment.  She also wants me to nurse her baby dolls. I wonder how she will feel about me nursing a real baby. I have heard that when she meets the new baby to not be holding or nursing baby so she can meet the baby on neutral territory. The idea is that she doesn’t immediately feel threatened or replaced by the new baby.

Missing: Nice weather. We got a glimpse of spring and then the snow came back. I am really excited to not wear so many layers and be outside again. I also want to start enjoying spring/summer food. I always crave salads, watermelon and just fresh fruits and veggies in general in the warm weather.

Movement: A little bit. Still not often and only when I am laying still, but it is so much fun. Feeling movement was really the first way with L that I truly felt pregnant and was able to start bonding with her. It is definitely true again this time. Something about feeling movement just starts a connection.

Dr. Update: No appointments this week.

Exercise: No. I’m going to start exercising soon, see How I’m Preparing below.

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: Almost all maternity clothing now. My (all-time favorite) maternity jeans from Stitch Fix , my nursing bras and maternity shirt. If this is your first pregnancy and you plan to nurse, buy nursing bras now when your normal bras don’t fit. That way you only have to buy once.

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: Yes

Belly Button In or Out: In

How I’m Preparing: Now that I am well into the second trimester, almost 20 weeks, yay! I have decided to start a prenatal workout class online. I want a class specific for pregnancy because you can actually cause some serious damage if are just working out as you normally do. Normal workouts while pregnant might increase your chances of getting recti diatis (where your stomach muscles separate). You can read more about their program here. I am really excited to start as I tried really hard to find a good workout program during my first pregnancy. However I was never thrilled with what I found. Tummy Team also offers splints, which help too. I never used one during my first pregnancy so I’m very excited to see how much of a difference it can make. More to come in my future pregnancy bump updates!

Best Moment of the Week: My toddler said for the first time “I love you mommy”. I didn’t even know she knew how to say that and it was completely unprompted. I do the first part of her bedtime routine and Cole does the second part. When she switched, she said “bye mama” and “I love you mommy.” It was a pretty amazing feeling and for sure the best moment of the week.
