High chairs: what to check before choosing a setup
Start with the place where you will feed your child, the product's instructions, and the cleaning you can realistically do. A high chair is not made more suitable by having more accessories.
Check the exact model's age, size, developmental, assembly, and restraint instructions. Do not use a generic age recommendation as a substitute for those requirements.
Measure the space with the chair in use
The seat's width is not its footprint. Measure between the outermost legs or base edges, then think through tray removal, caregiver access, and the route other people use past the table. If it folds, find out whether folding requires removing or storing other parts. A folded dimension is not the space required during a meal.
For a borrowed chair, get the model label and instructions before agreeing to use it. Check its recall status and whether required parts are present. Do not substitute a strap, bolt, or locking component based on appearance.
Different formats create different chores

Restraints and stability are not decorative features
The CPSC describes falls, tip-overs, and component failures among high-chair hazards. Use the restraint and locking systems exactly as instructed. A tray is not a replacement for the specified restraints, and a convenient fit at the table does not demonstrate safe use.
Do a cleaning walkthrough before deciding
Look for the seams, openings, and fabric areas that food will reach. Read which pieces can be removed and how they must be cleaned. If a cover takes a long time to dry, think about where the next meal will happen while it is unavailable. This is a practical comparison you can make without claiming one brand is universally best.
