5 Weeks Pregnant Update

Baby is a: Orange Seed

Weight gained: 0 lbs

How I’m preparing this week: I have started to refresh myself on all the ways to combat morning sickness and make a morning sickness survival kit that I can have with me at all times. With teaching early in the morning, this is a must. I usually always have with me a few options of bland snacks (crackers, pretzels, and granola bar),  Gatorade, gum, and a toothbrush and toothpaste in case I do puke.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Definitely more tired this week at 5 weeks pregnant. Bloating is already starting and my jeans are already starting to feel uncomfortable on my stomach. I also have started to get more acne due to the hormones. Morning sickness is still at a minimum. I am also starting to have to pee more often. I am not looking forward to having to get up during the night to pee.

Cravings: I am really into chili with lots of sharp cheddar cheese sprinkled on top this week, what a weird thing to want.

Aversions: Still avoiding asiago cheese but no aversions this week. In general, almost everything sounds blah to me. However, I still try to eat often to avoid feeling sick.

Sleep: I fall asleep in a matter of minutes as I am starting to feel fatigued. If I am not asleep by 10 pm, I get a tired headache and am not fun at all to be around. I also took two naps this week while L took her afternoon nap.

Excited for: Telling family. We will wait until we are close to week 13 before sharing with family. Even though that is some time away, we are both really excited to share. Cole and I are already talking about when and how we should do it. It would be so much fun to include L in this if possible. We have a few trips planned to see family so hopefully we can tell them in person, which is always more fun. For L, we told my parents at Christmas time and flew back from Germany to share the news. This time, we will try to tell Cole’s parents in person at Christmas time again. Both of our families live far away so things like this are always tricky.

Missing: I am definitely missing not having to worry about what I can eat or drink because I am pregnant. For example, I LOVE coffee and now I need to focus on making sure I am staying below the recommended amount (less than 200 mg caffeine per day).

Movement: No

Dr. Update: No doctor update yet but I am starting to research and contemplate the 12-week blood test screening options, and which one is right for me.

Exercise: No, however I am trying to find more time to fit yoga back into my schedule.

Stretch Marks: No

Swelling: No

Maternity Clothing: No

Labor Signs: No

Wedding Rings On: Yes

Belly Button In or Out: In

Best Moment of the Week: Thanksgiving. We went and saw some family. The day was actually stressful with a toddler who didn’t nap and wanted nothing to do with sitting at the table for Thanksgiving dinner. We then drove home that night at L’s bedtime in hopes that she would sleep, and she did, giving Cole and I some quiet time to chat, which is a rarity these days. We chatted about our growing family and how important traditions are and which ones we want to include in our family, especially ones that we grew up with that are around holidays. We also talked about names, which got nowhere, but was still exciting and fun because everytime we talk about Baby #2, it becomes more real.
