The Naya pump has a water-based suctioning system that can improve milk production for some women when they’re expressing milk. Warm water needs to go in the BSA tubes because the pump pushes it over the nipples to stimulate expression. Doing this with cold water can be unpleasant for moms who are pumping milk for their child.
Although the pump’s instructions say that the water can last up to two weeks in the tubes, water cools in a short amount of time, and the water needs to be warm whenever pumping. While it is a good breast pump that you may be able to find used, without knowing whether the app still works and with no customer support, we don’t recommend buying used machines. Some of the used models that women find on sites like eBay, Craigslist, or from retailers that specialize in used baby equipment may include the instruction manual.However, people rarely keep them, so they may not be available. Getting help for the Naya would be almost impossible to do since the company, Naya Health, shut down. Check for breastfeeding forums for information on the Naya breast pump, or there may be YouTube videos showing how to set it up and operate it. If you buy it from a previous owner, then ask them to demonstrate how to set it up and about pumping with it. Their experience could be invaluable as you use the system. You would also need to manually track feeding and pumping sessions to ensure there is enough milk inventory on hand in the refrigerator or freezer for your needs.
Instead of taking your chances with a used Naya Smart Breast Pump, we recommend buying another model, such as the other three we compared to the Naya model. First, decide if you really want to pay for a hospital-grade machine and then research your choices to determine which is the best for your needs. If you’re looking for a model with a smartphone app, then consider the Medela Sonata or any of the other smart breast pumps on the market may be your best choice.
