French doors are stylish and unique. Their uniqueness, however, makes them difficult to baby proof.

Before you jump right in, you should ask yourself the following questions

  • Do the doors need to remain closed?
  • Are the doors commonly used as thoroughfare?
  • Are there any other elements, such as glass, that pose a hazard to my child?

Stop your child from opening french doors

French doors will swing open from the center. The design means that your infant does not need to place much weight on them while fiddling with the handle or knob to open them. A recipe for a jail break if ever I saw one.

Most commonly, French doors have lever handles.
